I’m Jason McCormick, the Community College Admissions Counselor for the western half of Mississippi and Regional Admissions Counselor for central and east Tennessee.  I graduated from Ole Miss in 2006 with a degree in broadcast journalism with a public relations emphasis.  I interned with Rebel Sports Marketing during my time as an Ole Miss student.  Before attending Ole Miss, I attended Northwest Community College in Senatobia, Mississippi, where I was a member of the varsity soccer team.  I’m a native of Oxford, Mississippi.  I joined the Ole Miss recruiting team in 2007.

Being from Oxford, I grew up a fan of Ole Miss.  My grandfather and my mother took me to my first football game in the late 80’s and from that point there was never really any doubt.  I remember going to the grove when I was a kid and not being able to see the football players on the “Walk of Champions” because I was so small.  My grandfather would lift me up into a tree, so I could see the players walk through.  It’s really hard to say what my favorite thing about Ole Miss is, but here are a couple:

Getting to the Grove really early on Game Day right when the sun is coming up - I enjoy the calm and silence before all the crowds get there.  It’s fun watching the grove come to life.

Saturdays at Swayze field.

Hearing the bells at the Paris-Yates chapel playing the Alma Mater at the end of the day.

Fun Facts:
Pets:  Reilly is my black lab—she is the third smartest dog in the world, right behind Matthew Marks’ dogs, of course.  Rosa is my wife’s cocker spaniel.
Secret indulgence/guilty pleasure(s):  Harry Potter books—I was so embarrassed to read them that I put a different cover on them, so my roommates never knew that I was reading them.
Favorite Food(s):  Fried catfish
If I had to eat dinner with one person who would it be and why?  I really couldn’t pick just one, but I would have to say my grandmothers.
If I were trapped on an island with one person who would it be and why?  Jimmy Buffett—the most obvious reason is for his music, but he has traveled and become somewhat of an Island man himself.  That could come in handy.
Favorite place you have traveled to:  Florida Keys
Favorite Book(s):  The Last Best League - It’s about summer baseball in the Cape Cod League
