I’m Matthew Marks, Regional Admissions Counselor for the greater Jackson, MS, area and central and north Louisiana.  I am a 2007 graduate of The University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management.

During my four-year tenure here at Ole Miss, I served as the Vice President of the Business School, was a member of Who's Who Among College Students and was an active member of my fraternity.  I am originally from Monroe, LA, but I currently live in the Jackson, MS area.  I joined the Ole Miss recruiting team in 2007.

My favorite thing about Ole Miss is the size of the student body and the traditions that go along with the athletics.  I think the main reason I went to Ole Miss is because it is a personable university.  The campus is personable in the sense that it is so small and compact.  There is no walking 20 minutes across campus to get from class to class.  The staff is personable because they go the extra mile to help the students learn.  The environment is personable because you are not competing with 30,000 other students to get involved on campus.

Fun Facts:
Pets:  2 yellow labs—Liza (2 years) and Molly (1 year).  I really enjoy training them for hunt tests and dog trails as well as taking them duck hunting.
Secret indulgence/guilty pleasure(s):  Fantasy baseball—I am obsessed.
Favorite Food(s):  My mom’s chicken tetrazzini
If I had to eat dinner with one person who would it be and why?  UM’s former Chancellor, Robert Khayat, because he is the most positive and charismatic person I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know.  I feel that just by eating dinner with him one night I could learn so many things that would help me grow and go further in life.
If I were trapped on an island with one person who would it be and why?  My dog Liza, because she would never get mad at me.  She also can’t talk, so she could not annoy me, but I could talk to her because she would always be there for me.
Favorite place you have traveled to:  Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  I lived there for a summer.
Favorite Book(s):  Lone Survivor by Marcus Lutrell
