Participating Academic Disciplines
Subject to the availability of space and
faculty time, all of the science, math, and engineering academic
departments and programs participate as training ground for students.
Participating departments/programs include biology;
chemistry/biochemistry; mathematics; physics; experimental psychology;
chemical, civil, electrical, geological, and mechanical engineering;
computer science; medicinal chemistry; pharmacology; pharmacognosy; and
pharmaceutics. To learn more about research in various academic

Oxford and The
University of Mississippi
The University is located in the charming town
of Oxford, which is often listed as one of the top college towns in the
USA. The town and University offer a friendly, nurturing environment
for study. The research facilities at the University are excellent and
include the National Center for Physical Acoustics, the National Center
for Natural Products Research, the Center for Water and Wetlands
Research, the Mississippi Center for Supercomputing Research, plus
well-equipped laboratories in the various participating academic
departments.
Dates
The Summer Research Institue for
Undergraduates is an eight- to 10-week research program.
Scholars will enroll in the Introduction to Graduate Research course,
which will be available only during first summer session, and they may
enroll for additional research or lecture courses at their own expense.
Housing and Meals
Housing is available in residence halls on the
University campus. A modified meal plan is also available at the
regular summer rate.
Enrollment
Enrollment in the Summer Research Institute
for Undergraduates is limited. Applications should be submitted by
March 1 to ensure consideration.

please contact your academic department for positions available in your
particular field. Express to the department your interest in our
Graduate Summer Bridge Program.
