The Alliance for Graduate Education in Mississippi is a comprehensive program for enhancing entry into and successful completion of minority students in science, mathematics, and engineering graduate programs. The alliance is a consortium comprising Mississippi's four PhD granting institutions (The University of Mississippi as administrative lead, Jackson State University, Mississippi State University, and the University of Southern Mississippi). |
| The
ultimate goals of
the program are to increase the number of students from
under-represented minorities who enter science, mathematics and
engineering graduate programs in the consortium institutions; to
increase the number of these students who successfully complete a PhD
degree; to increase the number of doctoral students who enter academia;
and to bring about a systemic change in attitudes of faculty and
students.
