Adventure Trips Spring Semester 2009

The Fall Semester 2008 Trip and Clinic schedule has been established. It will be another exciting semester for everyone interested in pursuing an outdoor adventure activity. Check out the schedule - hopefully you will find one or more to your liking.

February 15: Valentine’s Float down the Wolf River
Memphis, Tennessee
Cost: $30/$35
Yoga & Hike Wall Doxey State Park

Bring your honey or fly solo and meet other singles for this winter wonderland float in the Memphis area, complete with canoeing, campfires, and cocoa.  We have the gear, we just need you and a friend or two.

Relax and breathe deep as we lead you on an easy hike to spectacular views of a freshwater lake and pristine nature trails, where will end the day with a Yoga session beside the still waters.

February 27 - March 1: Fly Fishing Weekend
White River, AR

Back by popular demand, this trip is better than ever! Journey to the peaceful waters of the White River in Arkansas and enjoy nature at its finest while experiencing one of the greatest outdoor sports in the south. Gear and fishing license included!

March 6 - 8: Bike & Boulder Oak Mountain
Alabama
Cost: $50/$60
Pre-Trip: 3/03/09

Now that your bike has emerged from hibernation, take it for a spin on various trails in One of Alabama’s premier parks. There’s something for everyone…single tracks, fire roads, and paved roads galore. Also, we will be hitting the bouldering fields nearby, so get ready to climb.

March 13 - 22: Spring Break - Dog Sledding in Canada
Ontario, Canada
Cost: $795/$825

This is seriously one of the coolest trips OMOD has ever offered (no pun intended)…3 days of dog sledding in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. The Almaquin Highlands and Northwest corner of Algonquin Park are home to some of the most celebrated dogsled trails in Canada. Each sled has two mushers and a team of six Alaskan huskies. Accommodation takes place in heated wall tents, which are set up prior to our expedition arriving. Trip cost includes ground transportation to and from Oxford, camping sites, accommodations at the park (1 night motel, 2 nights heated wall tent), three days mushing, all meals and the services of a guide/musher, and OMOD t-shirt.

March 28: Taylor Bike Trails & Plein Air
Taylor, MS

Take a break from the mundane and join us on the beautiful Taylor trails as we journey to the community of Plein Air in Taylor, MS. We’ll stop by the art gallery, antique shop, and then a bite to eat at Emileigh’s bakery.

April 3 - 5: Rock Climbing Weekend
Sand Rock and Palisades, AL

Put your skills to use at the south’s premier climbing destinations- Sand Rock and Palisades, Alabama! There are plenty of problems for all levels of climbers, so join us as we head east; your gear is included, so bring you buddy and join us for this rockin’ weekend.

April 10 - 12: Sea Kayaking the Gulf Coast
Mississippi Gulf Coast
Cost: $70/$80

Tour the inlets of the Mississippi Barrier Islands as whitecap waves call out your name. Camp at the Gulf Island National Seashore and sleep under the stars for the perfect weekend getaway. We have all the gear you need for this adventure!

April 18: Swamp Stomper Adventure Race
Sardis Lake

It’s the 7th annual and better than ever! Round up your friends and neighbors and create your co-ed team of 4 now. Hurry, space is limited! Included is a full course of trail running, canoeing, portaging, and some new mystery events! We’ll have prizes and swag galore, so bring your family and friends to watch you complete the race of a lifetime!

May 10 - 17: May Break - Surf & Sail Charleston
Charleston, SC
Cost: $350/$375

Road trip to one of the pretties coasts in America…the historic city of Charleston is full of charm and beauty, and water sports!! We will have a full week of beach, complete with surf lessons, sailing lessons, and all the gear is provided!! The price includes transportation, camping permits, gear, lessons, and an OMOD t-shirt.
