MissionThe mission of the Center for Excellence in Literacy Instruction (CELI) and the School of Education is to provide exemplary instruction, relevant research, and effective service through collaboration with schools, businesses, community organizations, and the public at large. The goal is to prepare reflective professionals who positively and effectively interact with persons diverse in race, culture, gender, age, ability, and/or developmental level. CELI’s targeted goal is to prepare reading/literacy teachers who know how to teach reading to all children, especially those children in Mississippi who are in low socioeconomic-status districts.". . .bookstores are dominant fixtures of Oxford's nostalgic,

rarely seen in cities today. The palpable sense that this is the
prototypical Southern college town is never more ubiquitous than
during home football games at Ole Miss-late August to late
