The University of Mississippi is engaging in an important public service event as the host of one of the 2008 Presidential Debates. The debate is poised to espouse key issues and their respective successes and shortcomings in American domestic and foreign affairs. More specifically, the state of education policy affairs for public schools and institutions of higher education facing the 44th President of the United States must be addressed in substantive ways in order improve the quality of academic outcomes and educational opportunities. Education is one of those domestic affairs that serve as a common denominator to the capacity at which productive and knowledgeable citizenry can be generated.
The National Educational Policy Forum, “Educational Policy and the 44th U.S. President” is used as the venue to examine the current state and future implications of educational policy for public schools, higher education, and public policy communities. The educational policy forum will convene nationally-recognized educational researchers and public policy advocates. Educational experts will examine pertinent issues related to education through an open dialogue focusing on the larger topics of college affordability and high stakes testing as well as institutional accessibility and school accountability.
The National Educational Policy Forum is made possible by the generous contributions of The Phil Hardin Foundation in Meridian, MS and various units within The University of Mississippi in University, MS.
