      J D Jackson, Classical Electrodynamics
      2nd edition, John Wiley & Sons 1975

This is the first part of a two-course sequence on classical electrodynamics. In it, we will discuss electrostatics, magnetostatics, the Maxwell equations and their conservation laws, wave guides and resonant cavities, and the special theory of relativity. Most of this material will be familiar to students from advanced undergraduate courses on electricity and magnetism, but the treatment here will be more rigorous and mathematically advanced.
