Corey Cagle entered the PhD program in 2007. Prior to his doctoral studies, Corey received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, and a Master of Accountancy from The University of Tennessee at Martin, in 2000 and 2001, respectively. He then spent time as an accountant with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, and as an auditor with Franks, Franks & Jarrell in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Corey holds CPA and CMA certificates and was the recipient of the Silas M. Simmons Bronze Medal Award for Outstanding Achievement on the 2006 CPA Examination. He also received the Patterson School of Accountancy Outstanding Doctoral Teaching Award in 2008. Corey’s primary teaching and research interests are in the field of governmental accounting and auditing. His research examines audit quality in local governments.
