Suzanne McCaffrey attended the University of Maryland and received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. That spring she started work with Arthur Young & Co. in Washington, D.C., who later merged with Ernst & Whinney. After working three years in the public arena, she moved to Mississippi in order for her new husband to attend graduate school. During these years, she worked at The University of Mississippi doing internal audit work, departmental accounting, contract & grant accounting, and a campus wide re-engineering project. In addition, during this time she attended graduate school herself and received her Masters of Accountancy. Her husband eventually received his degree and accepted a faculty position on campus.
After working one year off campus, she accepted an instructor position in the School of Accountancy to begin teaching Fall 2000. She has taught every spring and fall semester since. In 2002, Suzanne began advising Beta Alpha Psi, the School of Accountancy's honorary student group, helping the group achieve Distinguished Status in 2008. In the summer of 2008, Suzanne began a three year tenure as Chapter Advocate for the Southeast Region on the Beta Alpha Psi Board of Director. Suzanne still stays involved with Beta Alpha Psi by helping with the annual meetings. Suzanne finds teaching rewarding and enjoys being around all different types of students.
