Four accountancy students will serve The University of Mississippi as members of the Columns Society, a group of 12 men and 12 women selected to be official student hosts for the university.

The group’s primary role is to attend functions to welcome visitors and guests to Ole Miss. Humble service, leadership and integrity are the newly formed organization’s core principles.

Accountancy students inducted into the group last spring include senior Ben Van Landuyt of Springfield, Mo., junior Richard McKay of Philadelphia, junior Dennis Pickens of Lawrence and junior Charles Gautier of Long Beach.

“Although there are many organizations on a college campus, very few allow you to become involved on an intimate level,” Pickens said. “After hearing about the Columns Society, I knew that it would allow me to connect with the university on that level, and, as a multifaceted organization, the Columns Society has lived up to my expectations.”
