Educational Preparation

Preparation for any liberal arts program begins with a solid high school background. Students planning to major in African American Studies are encouraged to take composition, literature, speech, history, mathematics, science, and foreign language.

Courses in African-American Studies will fulfill the humanities requirement of the College of Liberal Arts as well as elective courses in several majors (e.g., Southern Studies, Social Work, Journalism, Engineering and Business).
