After earning her Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics in May of 2013, Alyssa has stayed at Ole Miss to continue her education. She is currently working on a Masters in Food and Nutrition Services and is on track to graduate in May of 2015. She is also in the UM Coordinated Program for dietetics and will begin her rotations to become a Registered Dietitian this summer.
She has been published numerous times on two nutrition websites, as well in the summer 2012 newsletter for Dietitians in Health Care Communities.
Alyssa is a member of the Sigma Alpha Lambda Honors Society, the Graduate Student Council, Ole Miss Student Alumni Council, Student Dietetic Association, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Memphis Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Dietitians in Health Care Communities Dietetic Practice Group, Diabetes Care and Education Dietetic Practice Group, Tennessee Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, in addition to working as a tutor for Ole Miss Athletics. She has volunteered for the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, The Healthy Heart Center, in addition to teaching nutrition to high school seniors at Collierville United Methodist Church. She is also a food allergy advocate and spoke on behalf of the bill for School Access to Emergency Epinephrine Act, which passed, in front of Tennessee Legislature.
Alyssa is also a Graduate Assistant in the NHM department for the Principles of Food Preparation lab and Quantity Foods lab.
