OXFORD, Miss. — Harish Chander, a Doctoral Candidate in Health & Kinesiology with an emphasis in Biomechanics and Neuromechanics at the University of Mississippi, has been named the School of Applied Sciences Student of the Month for October 2013.
With a background as a licensed physical therapist in India, Mr. Chander's interest now encompasses research into human balance and gait analyses, especially with applications in the field of Ergonomics and Occupational Biomechanics. The ultimate goal is to prevent falls and fall-related injuries in different occupational environments.
Mr. Chander teaches core undergraduate courses such as Kinesiology, Motor Control and Learning, and Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries. He also staffs the Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology Laboratories in the Department of Health, Exercise Science, and Recreation Administration.
