OXFORD, Miss. —Akellea Swingrum, a University of Mississippi undergraduate in Social Work, has been named the School of Applied Sciences Student of the Month for September 2013.
Ms. Swingrum, a senior, also has a minor in Legal Studies. She is a peer tutor and mentor at The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and a student archival assistant at the Modern Political Library. She is a member of Gamma Beta Phi and Phi Theta Kappa. She holds an Associates of Arts in Social Work from Northwest Mississippi Community College (2012).
After graduation, Ms. Swingrum plans to be a Juvenile Court Counselor or a Hospice Case Manager.
