Katherine Rhodes Fields was born in Jackson, Mississippi
in 1975.
After attending Clinton High School in 1993, she enrolled in college
at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, where she was
a Whitehead Scholar. At Sewanee she studied drawing, painting, and
sculpture under Pradip Malde, Edward Carlos, and Geof Bowie respectively
and received her Bachelor of Arts - Cum Laude degree in 1997. In December
of 1995, Katherine went to Glasgow Scotland where she studied Environmental
Art at the Glasgow School of Art under the direction of Brian Kelley,
Scottish mosaic artist and sculptor. In 2005, she graduated as the
Frank Finger Scholar with a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from
The University of Mississippi in Oxford under the instruction of Professor
Sheri Fleck Rieth.
From the summer of 2005 until the summer of 2008, Katherine lived and
worked in Saint Louis, Missouri. There she taught Printmaking at the
Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts at Webster University, was an Associate
Instructor of Art History at Maryville University, and was also a Studio
Arts Instructor at St. Charles Community College, Lewis and Clark Community
College, and at East Central College.
Along with an extensive national exhibition record, her drawings with
installation were exhibited in Stirling Scotland at the Changing Room
Contemporary Gallery (2005) and in Aberdeen Scotland as part of an
international drawing invitational (2004). Katherine’s print
work can be found at the Snowflake Gallery in St. Louis, Missouri.
