![]() Lou Haney Assistant Professor of Art Foundations Coordinator MFA, Claremont Graduate University
Lou Haney was born in Decatur, Alabama. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Art with a Studio Concentration, cum laude from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. Ms. Haney graduated with her Master’s of Fine Art degree in Painting from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California. She was awarded the President’s Award in May of 2003. She was employed as Assistant Professor of Art and chair of the Art and Design department at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee from 2004- 2007. In 2007, Ms Haney joined the University of Mississippi as an Assistant Professor of Art and Foundations Coordinator. Lou Haney has had solo exhibitions in California, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Mississippi, and Virginia. Lou Haney's work has been juried into several national exhibitions. Ms. Haney was accepted into the Kentucky National 2009 at Murray State University as well as Tallahassee International at the Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts. Lou Haney was also featured in the LaGrange National Biennial at the LaGrange Art Museum in LaGrange, GA. In 2007, Ms. Haney was honored to be included for the second time in the Red Clay Survey, An Exhibition of Contemporary Southern Art, at theHuntsville Museum of Art in Huntsville, Alabama. In 2008, she received the Mississippi Individual Artists Fellowship award as well as a partial fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center. Ms. Haney received the Cora Lee Graham Award for Outstanding Teaching of Freshmen at the University of Mississippi in May of 2010. Most recently, Lou attended the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire for summer 2009.
