Book Arts Class

Books and Cards! Get ready for the holiday gift giving early! Learn how to make several types of bound books and Pop-Up cards. Everyone loves hand made cards that you have put your heart into making. A personal memory book would be perfect for almost anyone in the family. Like an old fashioned quilting bee, making books is a social affair, so come join the fun and learn to make book bindings like the pamphlet binding, concertina, and post and screw.

Fall Watercolor Class

The class will include demonstrations of techniques, lectures and projects. The watercolor techniques taught include wet on dry, dry in wet and wet on wet, and styles will include abstract and still life compositions.

Watercolor paint in tubes: brands may range in price as do grades of those brands, for instance, “professional” or “artist quality” colors will be more expensive than the student grades, Cotman and Academy are student grades. If you have old paint that has dried up in tubes, don’t throw it away, it can be used. Suggested Colors: NO black or white, alizarin crimson, carmine, vermilion red, viridian, prussian blue, manganese blue, indigo, van dyke brown, sepia, hookers green dark, hookers green light, sap green, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow, cadmium red, cadmium orange, ultramarine blue, all Windsor colors, Antwerp blue, burnt sienna, burnt umber, raw sienna, raw umber, turquoise, rose madder, purple lake, lemon yellow and more.
A portfolio to contain your materials
Sponges, natural (ceramic class sponges are good)
Watercolor pencils and crayons (caran d’ache are best)
Bamboo brushes or watercolor brushes, assorted sizes, old toothbrushes, (no oil or acrylic painting brushes) and a brush just for gesso use
Small spray bottle for spraying water on the painting surfaces
A small bottle of gesso
Rubber cement or watercolor resist
Blue painters tape and old drawing boards or foam core boards
Watercolor paper, one 18’x 24’ pad of 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper

The Woodshop Demystified - Woodworking 101

This class is designed for beginners! Ladies and gentlemen, be prepared to make Thursday night your favorite night of the week when you sign up for this class! It is a hands-on exploration of basic woodworking in a real shop! Machine safety and function, basic wood finishing, joinery techniques, and characteristics of wood will be discussed, demonstrated, and utilized as students build several small projects. This class is limited to 10 participants.
