ROBERT TETTLETON
Visiting Professor of Art

and Emeriti Faculty
Art Education

M.Ed, Louisiana State University
BA, Louisiana Polytechnic Institute

I Graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, now Louisiana Tech University, with a BA degree in Art and Education in 1950 and was awarded the Master of Education in Art and Education and Educational Administration from Louisiana State University in 1953. Between 1955 and 1963 I completed 22 hours of advanced graduate work at Louisiana State University, The University of Florida at Gainesville, and New York University. I accepted the Chairmanship and Associate Professorship of Art at The University of Mississippi in 1965 and remained as Chairman and Professor of Art until 1976. From 1976 until 1995 I taught Art and Art Education courses until my retirement as Chief Honorary Marshall of the 1995 Commencement. After a brief period I was ask to return as part-time Professor of Art until 2000.

Since retirement I have taught a course in Interior Design for the Department of Off Campus Instruction and for the past three semesters I was ask to teach part-time as
Professor of Art with courses in graduate and undergraduate Art and courses in the Department Curriculum and Instruction in School of Education. Through out my career I have been listed in Who's Who in The South and Southwest and Who's Who in American Art. I have also exhibited in a number of art exhibitions and have had four one man shows. I have always worked in paint and mixed media with a heavy emphasis on the elements and principles of design and personal self expression. I hope this is what you need. Much of this information came from the Citation I received when I retired in 1995. My creative work has taken a back seat since retirement but I still feel hopeful that it will begin again.
