UNDERGRADUATE programs

Curriculum
The Department of Art at the University of Mississippi is committed to preparing undergraduate students to excel in creative production, research, education, and service in the visual arts. Our programs begin with a basis in the liberal arts, which gives artists a wider understanding of the world. Ole Miss has the most comprehensive art program in the state, offering three baccalaureate degrees with several areas of concentration within the studio degrees.

Undergraduate Programs
The B.A. degree is a broad degree focusing on studio art. Students often choose to focus on graphic/web design with a minor in business, journalism, or computer science. The B.A. in art history offers a broad choice of courses in Western and
non-Western art history, as well as unique courses in the arts, especially concerning Southern arts and architecture. Artists seeking professional portfolios will pursue the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (B.F.A.), which allows for a concentration in ceramics, painting, printmaking, graphic design/web design or sculpture.
