Research Interests

  • Ladys Slipper Orchids, especially those of Central and South America
  • Native rare plants of Mississippi and the southeastern US


I currently have a grant from the Holly Springs National Forest to study rare plants and their habitats, and to produce a guide that will be useful for foresters, landmanagers, and conservation biologists. As part of my curatorial duties in the Pullen Herbarium, I am the recipient of a National Science Foundation, Biological Research Collections grant to modernize the plant collection and to database the collection information.
