Adventure Trips Spring Semester 2008

The Spring Semester 2008 Trip and Clinic schedule has been established. It will be another exciting semester for everyone interested in pursuing an outdoor adventure activity. Check out the schedule - hopefully you will find one or more to your liking. We will include additional information such as cost and pre-trip meetings once the trips are finalized.

January 26: Rock Climbing Day Trip - Tishomingo, MS
Learn the elements for the first time or just brush up on your skills; let our leaders show you how to be safe each time you approach the rock. every climber needs proper instruction before attempting the sport. RESCHEDULED TO APRIL 20TH

Cost: $30/$35

February 1-3: Mountain Biking Weekend - Oak Mountain State Park, AL
Now that your bike has emerged from hibernation, take it for a spin on various trails; there's something for everyone...sing tracks, fire roads, and paved roads galore.

Cost: $50/$55

February 8-10: Hang Gliding Weekend - Lookout Mountain, GA
Always wanted to soar with the eagles? This is your trip! Spend a day learning the ropes, flying solo at low altitude; then we will launch, tandem style, off Lookout Mountain! We'll camp nearby, as well as spend some quality time in Chatty Town.

Cost: $200/$225

February 15-17: Backpacking Weekend - Sipsey Wilderness, AL
The crisp mountain air will clear out the winter cobwebs and allow you privy to one of the most beautiful regions in the south. It's also a great way to some some of those holiday lbs.!

Cost: $70/$75

February 22-24: Fly Fishing Trip - Little Red Rock, AR
Back by popular demand, this trip is incredible and better than ever! Journey to the beautiful waters in Arkansas and enjoy nature at its finest while experiencing one of the greatest outdoor sports in the south.

Cost: $70/$75

February 29 - March 2: Rock Climbing Trip - Horsespens & Palisades, AL
Put your skills to use at the south's premier climbing destination! There are plenty of problems for all levels of climbers; join us as we head east to Alabama, tackling the tricky routes presented by Sand Rock.

Cost: $70/$75

March 29: Orienteering Clinic at the Trails at Coliseum Drive
Learn to navigate remote settings in the back country using only a few key pieces of equipment and your noggin. Expert leadership will guide you to becoming a very independent in the wilderness, relying on your own skills to survive.

April 4- 6: Sea Kayaking Weekend - Horn Island, MS
Get sprayed in the face with some fresh saltwater! Whitecap waves await you and the sirens of the ocean are calling your name to tour the inlets of the Mississippi Barrier Islands.

Cost: $70/$75

April 11 - 13: White Water Weekend - Locust Fork, AL
Like a little thrill with some spills? We have your boat and gear ready for this white thrill ride. All we need is you. Rafting for beginners, kayaking for intermediates, this trip is perfect for anyone. Ask us about roll clinics if you need a refresher.

Cost: $80/$85

April 19: Swamp Stomper Adventure Race
It's the 6th annual, and better than ever! Get together 4 folks and create your co-ed team now. Hurry! Space is limited! Included is a full course of trail running, canoeing, portaging, and some new surpises in mystery events!

Cost: $30/person ($120/team)

April 20: Rock Climbing Day Trip - Tishomingo, MS
Rescheduled after bad weather in January, this is the perfect opportunity to learn the elements for the first time or brush up on your skills. Let our leaders show you how to be safe each time you approach the rock.

Cost: $30/$35

May 13 - 20: May Break Expedition ~~ From Ski Hut to Sand Dunes, Colorado
This is by far the coolest idea we've had in a long time. We are taking you from skiing/snowshoeing to sandboarding. We'll drive out to Colorado Springs and trek through the snow to a remote hut so that we can go back country skiing. We'll snowshoe the Continental Divide Trail. After a few days there, we'll head to the famous Arkansas river for an afternoon of rafting. The best part comes next. We'll go from there to the Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado and spend time sandboarding! This is a very laid back trip, so expect to have a good time. It includes 14 meals, lodging, park fees, transportation, rafting, and gear if needed. Hurry, space is limited!
