Course Objectives & Outcomes

Objective: To provide students with the opportunity to design a full scale unit using pilot-scale data.

Outcomes:

1. Work in small teams to plan and execute experiments on unit operations.

2) Use the data acquired, with appropriate engineering theory and principles, to design a "scaled-up" system.

3) Design (or redesign) an experiment, beginning with the appropriate concepts and progressing through revision, evaluation of equipment and vendors, purchasing, assembly, testing, safety review, and documentation.

4) Demonstrate an understanding of chemical process / laboratory safety, computerized data acquisition, and the statistical analysis of data.

5) Present findings in appropriate written form.
