Dr. John O'Haver

Research:

My group's research deals with fundamental and applied Surfactant Science, Atomic Force Microscopy, K-12 outreach , and engineering education. In enjoy working on a variety of projects and have been involved in a variety of collaborations.

Teaching:

I enjoy being in the classroom and try to make the experience profitable and enjoyable for my students.

On the Personal Side

I grew up in Oklahoma, where I attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman from 1974-78, receiving my B.S. in Secondary Education. I then taught science at a local high school and from 1983-88 attended night and summer school, working on a M.S. in Secondary Education. All totaled, I taught high school for 12 1/2 years, primarily second year chemistry, physics, and math analysis.  In the summer of 1991 I went back to school full time, beginning in the sophomore level engineering classes, where I had to compete with some of my ex high school students!  I took classes and did research simultaneously, defending my Ph.D. on Valentines day, 1995. We came to Oxford in the summer of 1996 and have enjoyed it ever since. Feel free to check out our personal pages.
