Financial Aid

Teaching and research assistantships are available to qualified applicants. For incoming students holding only a baccalaureate degree, teaching assistantship stipends begin at $18,500 for the calendar year. Applicants who have an undergraduate GPA of 3.40 or better and who have a GRE aptitude score (combined verbal and quantitative) of 1150 or better (or a combined GRE of 1250, regardless of the GPA) are recommended for an additional Graduate Honors Fellowship of $3,000 (renewable for a total of four years for Ph.D. students).

Research assistantships of $18,500 per year are also available. Both the in-state and out-of-state tuition fees are waived for recipients of either teaching or research assistantships. These waivers are valued at approximately $10,500 per year. In addition, minority fellowships valued at $3,000 are available.

Neighborhoods surrounding the campus offer city conveniences, quiet residential streets, and numerous parks. Affordable student housing is readily available through both University-owned and private apartments that are located within easy walking distance of the university. On-campus housing is available in Guess Hall, a graduate dormitory. One- or two-bedroom apartments are available to married students and single female graduate students in married student housing at very reasonable prices.
