Undergraduate (Updated Feb. 11, 2008)
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The University of Mississippi offers programs
leading to the B.S. (Bachelor of Science) degree in chemistry, the B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) degree
in chemistry, the B.A. degree in biochemistry, and the B.S. degree in forensic chemistry.
Honors sections and recitations allow students who are members of the McDonnell-Barksdale Honors
College to meet some of their Honors requirements with chemistry courses. Many Honors College students
conduct research with Chemistry and Biochemistry Department faculty to fulfill their research project
requirements. Outreach opportunities through the Ole Miss chapter of the Student Affiliates of the
American Chemical Society can be used to fulfill the public service requirement.
The Ole Miss Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society provide a forum for the exchange of
ideas among students in the chemical sciences, and encourage and assist students who are considering
careers in the chemical sciences. All students enrolled in, or considering enrollment in, degree programs
offered by the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the Department of Chemical Engineering, or the
School of Pharmacy are eligible and encouraged to join.
