Student Organizations

Forensic Chemistry Club- All forensic chemistry majors are part of this organization. We have monthly mandatory meetings to become acquainted with other forensic chemistry majors, invite guest speakers to talk about the field, get everyone on the right track in the curriculum, and listen to studentsí presentations about their experience in a crime lab during their internships. These meetings give more insight on the life of forensic chemists and they also help students decide if this major is for them.

SAACS (Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society)- This organization provides a forum for the exchange of ideas among students in the chemical sciences, allows local students in the chemical sciences to have a voice in the national community of chemists, and encourages and assists students in the area who are considering careers in the chemical sciences.

NOBCChE (National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers- This organization is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge in scientific and engineering fields. The goal is to increase the number of minorities in these professions by offering programs and other forms of assistance to get minorities into these fields.
