Mr. Ferguson has over nine years experience in bridge design and
major bridge construction. Prior to
joining Pickering, Inc., he served as the Chief Engineer for L & A
Contracting Co. in
Mr. Ferguson worked for the Mississippi Department of
Transportation for seven years in the Bridge Design Division as a Design
Section Engineer. He has designed
numerous prestressed concrete beam bridges, retaining
walls, cast in place box culverts and reinforced concrete piers in accordance
with AASHTO Standard Specifications. In
addition to designing bridges, he also reviewed and checked contract plans and
applicable documents for accuracy and completeness. He coordinated with other offices within the
Department of Transportation to facilitate an effective execution of contracts.
Significant Projects:

City of
•
Mississippi Department of Transportation project required the
design of a new structure on each side of existing and rehabilitation of the
existing structure. The bridge consisted
of prestressed concrete beams, trestle pile bents,
integral abutments and 90” drilled shaft substructure and cast in place
concrete superstructure.
• Camp McCain Defense Access Road Over Interstate 55 near
Department of Defense requested a bridge design to withstand
military loading, which consisted of a M1070 Heavy Equipment Transporter,
without having to obtain an overload permit.
The bridge consisted of 72” Bulb T prestressed
beams, pile footing substructure and cast in place concrete superstructure.

Project consisted of prestressed beam
and welded plate girder spans on pile footing substructure. Value Engineering Proposal was submitted and
approved which changed the pile footing substructure to 72” drilled shaft
substructure.
• State Route 175
Across Horn Lake Creek -
Tennessee Department of Transportation project consists of the
design of a new bridge to replace the existing substandard structure. Existing
bridge must remain open to traffic, which will require phased construction
design. Bridge designed in accordance with AASHTO Standard Specifications for
Seismic Design of Highway Bridges.

Bridge Replacements –
Tennessee Department of Transportation project consists of the
design of multiple bridges at various sites to replace existing substandard
structures. Bridges designed in
accordance with AASHTO Standard Specifications for Seismic Design of Highway
Bridges.
