Dear Ole Miss Civil Engineering Alumni and Friends,
Together with the university Outreach and Continuing Education unit, the
Civil Engineering Department is extending its Master Degree in Environmental
Engineering Program to the DeSoto and Tupelo campuses for professionals
working in these areas. This email is to solicit your help to spread the
news and to assist in the recruitment effort.
As you know DeSoto is one of the most rapidly growing counties in the US. We
feel that there is a need for environmental Master degree program to serve
the professionals who are already practicing or plan to practice in this
field. It appears that there is no such competing evening program in DeSoto
and Memphis areas. Last year the program started without fanfare. By now we
have five registered Master students, and about another five who started as
non-degree students in preparation for the program. Dr. Eric Jao
http://www.olemiss.edu/depts/civil_eng/jao.html
was hired in August as
Director of Off-Campus Engineering Programs to oversee this program. We are
now ready to announce to the public this degree program.
If you live in the northern Mississippi or Memphis areas, we need your help
in the following manner:
1. If you know your employees, co-workers, neighbors, and friends, who might
be interested in this program, please feel free to forward the attached
announcement (link) and encourage them to apply. If you
need printed, color copies
of the pamphlet, just send your mailing address and the number of copies
needed. We will mail the material promptly.
2. If you think that there are a few people in your company or your
community group that will be interested, Dr. Jao can visit, or he can hold
open house at DeSoto or Tupelo campuses.
3. If you have any suggestion, both Dr. Jao shjao@olemiss.edu
and I will be
pleased to hear about it.
Thanks for the help. In fact, if we get good responses to this request, we
may further sample you for the next question: what is your view about
offering Engineering Management Master Degree program in these Campuses?
Best wishes,
Alex
