      Roman lamps. Left: Ganymede with eagle, 1st cent. A.D.  Center: Mars and his horse, 1st cent. A.D.  Gifts of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Peddle.  Right: Portrait of Julius Caesar, modern forgery (?) in the style of the 2nd cent. A.D.  Gift of Helen Tudor Robinson.

      Mississippi 1977.3.357

      Roman incense burner or lamp with a floating wick, in the shape of a mask of a satyr head, 100 A.D.  On the base is a stamped inscription "Anacleto" ("by Anacletus").  Gift of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Peddle.

      Etruscan bucchero ware oinochoe, late 5th c. B.C. Palmettes in relief.  Gift of Helen Tudor Robinson.

      Renaissance sarcophagus panel of the 16th to 17th cent., inspired by Roman original. Represents the triumph of Dionysos.  Gift of David M. Robinson.
