Academic Programs
The School of Engineering at The University of Mississippi, through the CME, will offer a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in manufacturing. Students in this program, which comprises 128 credit hours of study, will also be immersed in the cross- disciplinary areas of accounting, business, finance, marketing and human resources.
In addition to the academic requirements, students will be expected participate in a related internship and/or co-op work-study program during their junior or senior years. The manufacturing emphasis will eventually be extended to other engineering programs (electrical and chemical, for example). Graduate programs at the master's and doctoral levels will be developed as new faculty are hired and the undergraduate programs are secured.
For those students interested in pursuing management-track positions within engineering and manufacturing-related companies, several options will be considered. The School of Engineering, through the Bachelor of Engineering program, will offer a technical degree that will be enhanced with up to 30 credit hours in business, management, marketing and finance.
The School of Business Administration will also offer a BBA in management, and the School of Accountancy will offer a bachelor’s degree in accountancy, each with a minor in engineering and a focus on manufacturing. The minor in engineering will be structured to meet the needs of the students in business, accounting or other degree programs.
