DEPARTMENTS AND PROGRAMS

School administrators help shape the lives of elementary, middle- and high-school students through leadership.
Graduate Placements and Outstanding Alumni Master's and specialist graduates in counseling are working for school districts all over the region, as well as the North Mississippi Regional Center and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, among others. Ph.D. graduates are serving in faculty positions at a number of universities, including the University of Northern Colorado and Louisiana State University.

Graduates of the educational leadership program are equally successful. Master's and specialist graduates serve as school and school district administrators across Mississippi. Dr. Hank Bounds, superintendent of the Mississippi Department of Education, received his Ph.D. from this program.

Recent graduates from the master's program in higher education/student personnel have begun their careers at such institutions as the University of Missouri and the University of Chicago. Graduates of the Ph.D. program include Dr. Tom Meredith, Mississippi commissioner of higher education; Dr. Jason Dean, White House Fellow with U.S. Department of Education; Dr. Charlotte Fant, registrar and director of admissions at UM; and Dr. Steven Condon, president of Tennessee Wesleyan College.
