Graduate Placements and Outstanding Alumni
Master's and specialist graduates in counseling are working for school districts
all over the region, as well as the North Mississippi Regional Center and the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs, among others. Ph.D. graduates are serving in faculty
positions at a number of universities, including the University of Northern Colorado
and Louisiana State University.
Graduates of the educational leadership program are equally successful. Master's
and specialist graduates serve as school and school district administrators across
Mississippi. Dr. Hank Bounds, superintendent of the Mississippi Department of Education,
received his Ph.D. from this program.
Recent graduates from the master's program in higher education/student personnel
have begun their careers at such institutions as the University of Missouri and
the University of Chicago. Graduates of the Ph.D. program include Dr. Tom Meredith,
Mississippi commissioner of higher education; Dr. Jason Dean, White House Fellow
with U.S. Department of Education; Dr. Charlotte Fant, registrar and director of
admissions at UM; and Dr. Steven Condon, president of Tennessee Wesleyan College.
