The Woods Order

Established in 1978, the Woods Order is the primary fund raising arm for the School of Engineering. Named in memory of former student Jesse Brooks Woods, Jr., the Order is comprised of alumni, friends, and industry representatives who provide substantial financial support for the School. Persons who make an annual gift of $500 or more to benefit the School are recognized as members of the Woods Order. Donors whose cumulative giving is at least $5,000 are members for life.

Each year, the Woods Order provides funds for equipment and technology, faculty and student development, field trips, student recruiting, and support of engineering outreach programs. Engineering scholarships help needy students and attract quality students to the School. The Woods Order endowment has grown to over half a million dollars and will provide private funds for years to come.

The Woods Order Engineering Awards Reception and Banquet is held in the spring to present awards to the Outstanding Faculty Member and the annual recipient of the Engineer of Distinction Award. Order members are invited to attend and will be recognized and thanked for their support during the program. The banquet is a great time to catch up with old friends and see firsthand how your support benefits the School.

As a member of the Woods Order, you will have the satisfaction of helping students and your profession. Ole Miss engineers have long been viewed as better prepared, more qualified, and more well-rounded than students from much larger engineering programs. Much of our success is the direct result of private support provided by alumni and friends. You can do your part to help the School of Engineering by becoming a member of the Woods Order.
