Pendarvis is the author of two story collections, The Mysterious Secret of the Valuable Treasure (2005) and Your Body is Changing (2007). His first novel, titled Awesome, will be published in 2008. He is a contributing writer to The Oxford American and a contributing editor of the music magazine Paste. His work has appeared in many other publications, including The Believer, McSweeney's, The New York Times, and the 2006 Pushcart Prize anthology.
