Hospitality Management Mission Statement

Students

The mission of the Hospitality management (HM) program at the University of Mississippi is to provide an academic model stimulating students to be lifelong learners, professional leaders, and responsible citizens who will make a positive contribution to hospitality industry and to our society as a whole by providing a dynamic learning environment in teaching, research, and service.

Hospitality Management Outcome Measures

Knowledge of the Hospitality Industry

Students will know the different hospitality segments, both from a current and historical perspective, and understand how these segments interact in providing services and products to guests and customers.

Professional Competitiveness

Students will demonstrate an operational understanding of foodservice and basic culinary principles to operate a successful and profitable restaurant business.

Professional Skill Development

Students will demonstrate the skills of an effective hospitality manager in the functional areas of accounting, finance, economics, law, ethics, quantitative methods, human resources, organizational methods, marketing, and management.
