Square Toast for Scholarships 2011
Event Organizers

 

Students in NHM 312: Event Management are currently organizing Square Toast for Scholarships 2011. There are five groups (marketing, silent auction, operations, food & site, and volunteers) - they all serve as assistant event coordinators for their particular group. Many of them plan to work in the event management industry upon graduation from Ole Miss. This course is giving them a real world, hands on experience of planning an event – everything from promotion, selling tickets, soliciting items for a silent auction, working with the Ole Miss and Oxford community, and many other aspects of planning a real event. They are all working hard and without their help, the event would not be possible!

Marketing Group

Marketing Students

Marketing Assistant Event Coordinators: Anna, Jena, Leigh, and Macy (not pictured: Meredith and Ellen). This group is responsible for the promotions and marketing for Square Toast for Scholarships 2011. This includes our social media outlets (Facebook and Twitter), poster distribution around Ole Miss and Oxford, and the orchestration of our event booklet (to let all those attending our event know where the venues are located, notations on the wine and food at each venue, and our sponsor advertisements).

Silent Auction Assistant Event Coordinators: Katie, Susannah, Logan, Kelsey, Allie, and Molly (not pictured: Alex). This group is responsible for the solicitation of silent auction donations, the set up and breakdown of the silent auction area, and night of promotion and participation of those attending the event to assist in bidding and buying of the items we have for the 2011 event.

Operations Group

Operations Assistant Event Coordinators: Brittany, Jbeth, Christi, Katie, Madeline, and Hayley. This group is responsible for the operations and logistics of the event – from the preplanning stages to the night of to, also, the debriefing for after the event. They are working with local rental companies for items needed in the event. They also handle the event's decorum, table set up (at each venue), and flow of the registration and silent auction area on the Lafayette County Courthouse Lawn.

Food & Site Group

Food & Site Group

Food & Site Assistant Event Coordinators: Kristen, Tim, Kristina, Leah, Katie, and Ashley. This group is responsible for gaining participation from all venues working with Square Toast for Scholarships. They work with all of the On-Square Restaurants and Retail establishments, as well as the Off-Square Restaurants and Catering Companies (in Oxford and the surrounding areas) who will be participating in 2011 event. For this, they work on pairing On-Square Retail establishments when Off-Square Restaurants and Catering Companies for the night of, as well as all of the wine pairings.

Volunteer Group

Volunteer Group

Volunteer Assistant Event Coordinators: Maddie, Lauren, Taylor, Amy, Julia, and Jason. This group is responsible for gathering the many volunteers who help us throughout the day and night of in the many venue set-ups and breakdowns. They also oversee the ticket sales at Thacker Mountain Radio (each Thursday before the event) and meet with all volunteers before the event so we are all prepared and ready to have a successful Square Toast for Scholarships.
