Our mission is to provide excellence in
research and educational programs in the field of Family and Consumer
Sciences as a multidisciplinary academic unit. Through
its teaching and service activities, the department prepares
individuals to engage in professional and ethical endeavors
in Family and Consumer Sciences that enhance the quality of life
for individuals, families, organizations, and communities. Selected
research topics addressed in the department include child
nutrition, diet/nutrient assessment, food safety, food
policy, health and welfare, food distribution and retailing, consumer
behavior, disease prevention, food service financial analysis, hospitality
marketing, and customer satisfaction.
