State of Mississippi Aid
If you are a Mississippi Resident and are eligible for the Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant or the Eminent Scholars’ Grant, you must apply by September 15th. Continuing students must also re-apply each year including transfer students.

Federal Aid (FAFSA)
Students and parents who wish to participate in federal aid programs such as Pell Grant, Perkins Loan, Stafford Loans, and Parent Loans (PLUS), must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) each year. The application can be filed starting January 1 of the year in which you intend to enroll. At the University of Mississippi, the academic year begins in August.

Federal Parent Loan (PLUS)
Parent loans enable parents with good credit histories to borrow to pay the education expenses of their dependent undergraduate children. Annual eligibility is limited to the cost of attendance minus other financial aid the student receives. Financial need is not a requirement for this program. Repayment and accrual of interest begin immediately. Students must file a FAFSA to establish eligibility for the loan.

Private Loans
Private (sometimes called “alternative”) loans are available to students who are ineligible for federal student loans, or who need more loan funds than the federal programs can supply. Private loan products vary significantly, and students should consider the terms and conditions carefully when selecting a private loan program.

Loan Entrance Counseling
If you anticipate utilizing student loans (Federal Stafford, Perkins, and  Health Professions Student Loans or McKinstry Loans) during your academic  career at Ole Miss, you must complete this on-line loan entrance counseling session before any loans can be processed on your behalf. Once you are awarded loans, you will accept the loan(s) and select a lender via your on-line award letter. Students will then need to complete a Master Promissory Note with their lender.

E.H. Sumners Grant
Students who live in one of the following Mississippi Counties are eligible for a Sumners Grant: Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Montgomery, or Webster. This application must be filed each year and eligibility is determined by the Sumner Foundation and the University of Mississippi Office of Financial Aid.
