Welcome to The University of Mississippi Online Loan Entrance Counseling Session. We are happy to offer this session as a convenient method to satisfy federal requirements for loan counseling. This counseling module is used for Federal Stafford, Federal Perkins, Health Professions, and McKinstry Loans. You need only complete this counseling once during your academic program. Students who have only Federal Perkins, Health Professions, or McKinstry Loans should follow the instructions for Perkins borrowers. Please note that we will not generate loan contracts for any of these loan programs until the Entrance Counseling requirement has been satisfied. Stafford Borrowers: Before you start, it is important that you familiarize yourself with our Stafford Loan processing procedures. Application Procedures for Stafford Student Loans
How Your Loans Will Be DisbursedPerkins, Health Professions, and Institutional Funds will be directly credited to your account in the Bursar’s Office. If you are due a balance after all charges have been paid, the Bursar will issue you a balance check. Once your lender has processed your Stafford Loan application, they will wire the loan funds to us via The National Disbursement Network (NDN). Stafford Loan funds received by EFT will also be directly credited to your account in the Bursar’s Office. If you are not using a preferred lender, your funds will be mailed to us in the form of a paper check. The actual amount of money you receive may be less than the loan amount as some lenders withhold a 1% origination fee and 1% Federal Default fee on behalf of the federal government. Stafford Loans are distributed at the beginning of each semester or as soon thereafter as the loan is processed.
During this session, you will have an opportunity to ask questions. Just click on the "Frequently Asked Questions" icon. Your questions will be addressed within 48 hours of our receipt.
