The University of Mississippi has many scholarships that have been made available through the generous donations of alumni and friends of the university.  The scholarships listed are available for incoming freshmen and community college transfer students that plan to attend The University of Mississippi beginning Fall 2008.

Incoming freshmen who wish to be considered for scholarships must file a University of Mississippi Admission Application, and submit an online scholarship application. This application should be completed for the priority deadline of February 1 with a final deadline of April 1. Transfer students should submit a University of Mississippi Admission application, online Community College Transfer Scholarship Application, and transcript that includes three semesters of grades. This should be done for the priority deadline of February 1 but no later than than April 1 prior to enrollment.

All students must be admitted to The University of Mississippi to be considered for scholarships.  Some departmental and professional school awards are not included in this listing. Scholarship eligibility, criteria, and amounts may change at any time without prior notice.

Award Amount   $24,000-40,000 ($6,000-10,000 per year)

Award Amount $24,000-40,000 ($6,000-10,000 per year)

Luckyday Scholarship

Award Amount $8,000-$28,000 ($2,000-$7,000 per year)
Eligibility Entering freshman from Mississippi with 20 ACT or higher (930 SAT), 3.2 or higher GPA and remaining financial need after considering other scholarships or grants.

Lott Leadership Scholarship

Award Amount $40,000 ($10,000 per year)
Eligibility Entering freshmen with exceptional leadership and academic records who are actively pursuing a degree in Public Policy Leadership.  Recipients must be Mississippi residents.

Christine and Clarence Day Business Scholarship

Award Amount $40,000 ($10,000 per year)
Eligibility Entering freshmen who are Mississippi high school graduates pursuing business degrees. Outstanding academic and leadership record required.

Eligibility Entering freshmen with strong academic and leadership records who demonstrate an interest in international studies and who are actively pursuing a degree in international studies.

Eligibility Transfer students with at least 3.0 GPA and at least 48 transferable community college credit hours and an exemplary record of leadership and service.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Award Amount $4,800 ($2,400 per year for two years)
Eligibility Transfer students with a 3.5 GPA on at least 48 transferable community college credit hours and membership in Phi Theta Kappa. Members of the All American Team will receive an additional one-time only $1,000 scholarship.

Luckyday Teacher Loan/Scholarship

Award Amount $9,200 ($4,600 per year, two years only)
Eligibility Transfer students from a Mississippi community or junior college who have at least 48 community college hours and who are pursuing degrees in elementary, special or secondary education. This award is a loan that can be cancelled if a student meets specific requirements for teaching in Mississippi for three years following graduation.

Academic Excellence

Academic Excellence Scholarships

Award Amount $5,000 - $20,000 ($1,250 - $5,000 per year)
Eligibility Entering freshmen, minimum 3.0 four-year high school GPA, minimum 26 ACT (1170 SAT).  National Merit/Achievement Semi-Finalists/Finalists are eligible for the Academic Excellence Scholarship National Merit/Achievement Semi-Finalist/Finalist Award and will not be eligible to receive this award.

Academic Excellence Nonresident Tuition Award

Award Amount $8,000-26,016 ($2,000 - $6,504 per year toward out-of-state tuition)
Eligibility Entering freshmen who are nonresidents of Mississippi and have a 28 - 31 ACT (1240 -1400 SAT) and a 3.0 or higher GPA will receive a $2,000 per year award. 

Entering freshman who are nonresidents of Mississippi and have a 3.0 or higher GPA and National Merit/Achievement Semi-Finalist status will receive a $4,000 per year award.

Entering freshman who are nonresidents of Mississippi and have a 32 or higher ACT (1410 or higher SAT) or have National Merit/Achievement Finalist status and a 3.0 or higher GPA will receive a full nonresident award, currently valued at $6,504 per year.

Academic Excellence Scholarship National Merit/Achievement                 Semi-Finalist/Finalist Award

Award Amount Currently valued at $33,200 ($8,300 per year - includes average cost of double-occupancy room in a campus residence hall currently valued at $3,300 per year).  Finalist may receive additional awards. This scholarship is awarded in lieu of the Academic Excellence Scholarship.
Eligibility Entering freshmen with National Merit/Achievement Semi-Finalist status and a 3.0 or higher GPA.

Chancellor's Leadership Class Scholarship

Award Amount $1,000 (first year only; not awardable to students with academic scholarships)
Eligibility Entering freshmen demonstrating strong leadership. Must be both nominated by school official and selected by University committee.

Child of Faculty and Staff

Award Amount

One half tuition per semester (full tuition per semester for those children of parents employed before July 1, 1977 ).

Eligibility

Students whose parents are full-time, permanent employees of The University of Mississippi Main Campus and/or its branch campuses.

Available to Juniors and Seniors who have completed at least 30 hours or more at the University of Mississippi with a 3.75 GPA or higher
