Messiah

The University of Mississippi Department of Music will present a performance of Messiah by George Frideric Handel under the direction of guest conductor Dr. Dennis Shrock. The performance is being offered on the Monday of Holy Week as part II of this work chronicles the story of Christ's passion, resurrection and ascension. Messiah is one of the most known and adored choral works with frequent performances throughout the world.

Dr. Dennis Shrock is a professor emeritus from the University of Oklahoma where he was Director of Choral Activities and head of the graduate choral program. Prior to this, he served at Westminster Choir College. His extensive conducting career includes performances with the New York Philharmonic, Oklahoma Symphony, Tulsa Philharmonic, Santa Fe Dessert Chorale, and Canterbury Choral Society in Oklahoma City. He is a well respected choral scholar, author and lecturer. His book, Choral Repertoire, was recently published by Oxford University Press.
