In the aftermath of September 11,

the country trying to find what it
means to be a citizen and hoping to
find a nation he could believe in. He did. Reppe now stars in the stage adaptation
of his insightful tour across
America. Jack Rowe directs this oneman
show, which is the winner of citations
from Backstage West for Best
Performance and Best Writing.
 “DRUM!”
Friday, February 15 • 8 p.m.
What is “DRUM?” “DRUM!” is Nova Scotia’s spectacular
musical production featuring 20
musicians, dancers, drummers and
singers from four of the principal cultures—
black, Acadian, aboriginal and
Celtic—brought together in a heartpumping
fusion of music, dance,
poetry, video, rhythm and song. Since “DRUM!” first came to the
stage in1999, the production has been
received with standing ovations and
rave reviews. The Chicago Tribune
called it “sensational!” The Boston
Globe asked for an encore! The Halifax
Chronicle Herald declared it “unreviewable—
it has to be experienced.” “DRUM!”—“Four cultures…four
rhythms…one heart.”
 “The Mystical
Arts of Tibet”
Thursday, May 1 •
8 p.m.
In recent years, “The Mystical Arts of
Tibet” tours, featuring the famed multiphonic
singers of Drepung Loseling
monastery, have taken the world by
storm. Endorsed by the Dalai Lama as
a means of promoting world peace and
healing through sacred performing art,
the famed monks have performed in
many of America’s greatest theaters and
music halls, and, in May 2008, they’ll
perform on the Ford Center’s state-ofthe-
art stage. On previous tours, the monks have
shared the stage with world-renowned
artists including Philip Glass, Kitaro,
Paul Simon, Sheryl Crow, Michael
Stipe, Patti Smith, Natalie Merchant,
the Beastie Boys and many others. A masterpiece of Drepung Loseling
and Richard Gere Productions, “The
Mystical Arts of Tibet” is a sacred,
beautiful and powerful performance.
