"After many years of sharecropping and moving from farm to farm, the Mitchell family left their Clear Creek farm for Oxford so their children could go to school. Their seven children included Lampton, Susie Lee, Bessie Mae, Lucy Jane, Earnistine Louise, William Jr., and Rita Katherine. Today, Ruben Mitchell has over 300 descendants."
