Collection consists of correspondence, various legal documents, photographs, and ephemera related to the Dean family in Mississippi. Materials were created from 1837-1930.
The collection contains a family portrait, over 500 photographs, over 200 letters dating from the 1830s through the 1880s, material related to the civil rights era in Mississipi, a substantial collection of of late 19th century Mississippi tax receipts, nearly a score of indentures dating from 1801 through 1896, bills of sale for slaves, and platation records that include ledgers, account books, and cotton receipts.
