Historical Note

The Progressive Farmer magazine was founded in 1886 in Winston, N.C. by Leonidas Lafayette Polk. The magazine later merged with the  Southern Farm Gazette. Today the magazine is published in Birmingham, Ala. Its parent company, the Progressive Farmer Company, also publishes  Southern Living magazine.
