Special Collections Digital Initiatives Librarian and Assistant Professor
The Department of Archives and Special Collections at the University of Mississippi seeks applicants for the position of Special Collections Digital Initiatives Librarian. The position is a twelve-month, tenure track, assistant professor. Reports to the Head of Special Collections and coordinates selected digital initiatives projects regarding the overall management (production, capture, access, and preservation) of the digital intellectual output and digital conversion of Special Collections materials.
Job Responsibilities:
The work includes: establishing operating procedures, and overseeing the technical details of production processes needed to establish and maintain a digital initiatives operation; designing and supervising workflow processes; managing standards usage compliance; encoding metadata; building and managing databases; collaborating with other librarians, including metadata cataloging; converting textual, image, audio, and video materials into digital form; and migrating digital resources into new formats. Experience with management and preservation of electronic and born-digital records. The successful candidate will also be involved with providing Special Collections reference service, presenting workshops, and training for patrons, and planning for Special Collections exhibitions.
Qualifications/ Skills:
Masters degree from ALA accredited institution by date of appointment. Experience with current and emerging technologies in digital and web-based library services. Experience with digital library products, such as ContentDM. Knowledge of traditional and emerging metadata standards and experience with one or more major descriptive metadata standards: EAD, Dublin Core, or others. Experience with database design and development. Proficiency in webpage development and in the use of web-authoring tools. Demonstrated ability to plan, initiate, and implement effective programs and services. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to meet tenure requirements and interest in ongoing professional development. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to serve as a team member. The successful candidate should have experience with authoring finding aid descriptions.
Minimum salary is $38,000, commensurate with experience and includes a competitive benefits package. Business Reference Librarian and Assistant Professor
The University of Mississippi Libraries seeks a creative and dynamic Business Librarian to join a reference department delivering user-centered services to the School of Business Administration as well as to the general university community.
Under the direction of the Head of Information, Outreach and Delivery Services, the successful candidate will:
- Provide instruction, including web content and online tutorials; provide liaison and collection development services for the School of Business Administration
- Develop personalized reference / instruction services to the School of Business Administration.
- Provide in-person and virtual reference services at a general reference desk, some evening hours required.
- Participate in a general library instruction program supporting composition and Freshmen Seminar courses.
- Join in library outreach and other innovative initiatives.
Qualifications: ALA accredited master's degree by date of employment; experience with or course-work on business reference sources, excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; knowledge of or course-work in reference methods and/or resources, strong knowledge of emerging technologies, and the ability to apply these technologies to a diverse range of library applications.

Reference Librarian and Assistant Professor
The University of Mississippi Libraries seeks a creative and dynamic Reference Librarian to join a reference department delivering user-centered services to the university community.
Under the direction of the Head of Information, Outreach and Delivery Services, the successful candidate will:
- Provide in-person and virtual reference services at a general reference desk, some evening hours required.
- Participate in a general library instruction program supporting composition and Freshmen Seminar courses.
- Develop an instruction program, including web content and online tutorials, for the Department of English and other departments as assigned.
- Provide liaison and collection development for the Department of English and other departments as assigned.
- Join in library outreach and other innovative initiatives.
Qualifications: ALA accredited master's degree by date of employment; degree in a humanities discipline, excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; knowledge of or course-work in reference methods and/or resources, strong knowledge of emerging technologies, and the ability to apply these technologies to a diverse range of library applications.
