John Davis Williams Library Graduate Student Study Carrels*

The John Davis Williams Library located in the heart of the University of Mississippi campus offers students many different types study areas including four Group Study Rooms (two each located on the 2nd and 3rd floors), seating areas on each floor and individual Graduate Student Study Carrels.  These individual study carrels are available to graduate students ONLY and are located on Mezzanine C (the top floor of the Library).  They are small with no windows, but are enclosed with a locking door.  Each carrel has a desk, chair and bookshelf for storage.  There is a one time fee of $5.00 and only one graduate student is assigned to a carrel at a time.  Carrels are renewable each semester by contacting the Administrative Suite.  Note: There is an extensive waiting list.

If you are a graduate student and would like to apply for a study carrel, you can print out the form via the link provided below or stop by and pick up an application in the Administrative Suite, Room 312.  Each form requires a faculty advisor's signature before it can be considered.  Applications are kept on file in the order in which they are received.

Study Carrel Policies are as follows:

1)  There will be ABSOLUTELY NO APPLIANCES allowed in a carrel (microwaves, coffee pots, toasters, etc.).

2)  The Library will not be responsible for any items left in a carrel (books, papers, computer equipment, etc.) which could be stolen or damaged due to incidents beyond our control.

3)  A student will be denied the use of his/her carrel if it is not renewed by the time stated in the communication (e-mail, letter, etc.). 

4)  The Library staff reserve the right to perform unannounced checks of all study carrels. 

5)  Students found to be in violation of any policy will immediately lose their carrel privileges.
