(circa 1911) Published document. "Private John" Allen Writes Open Letter to James K. Vardaman: Offers to Donate $1,500.00 to Charity if Vardaman Will Answer Questions Suggested by the records." Vardaman is asked to respond to several issues: "The Secret Caucus", "The Merger Bill", the Mobile & Ohio Railroad, a free pass on the Gulf and Ship Island Railroad, and "the hero battleship fund."
