Barrett taught political science at the University of Mississippi from 1954 until 1976.His book Integration at Ole Miss (1965) records the events surrounding the integration of the University of Mississippi in 1962.These photographs by Barrett, Fred Ward, Flip Schulke and the United Press International capture the riots and James Meredith's graduation from the University.
