Circulation and Reserves

Faculty, staff, and students of the University can check out CDs, LPs, DVDs, VHS and cassettes for one week.  CD-Roms can be checked out by undergraduate students for 28 days, graduate students for 56 days, and staff and faculty for 1 year.  Each item can be renewed a maximum of two times, and is searchable through the Library Catalog.  Microform materials are not available for checkout, and can be viewed on the microform readers available in the Media/Microform Department.  Patrons who are not faculty, staff, or students have access to media materials on an in-house only basis, unless otherwise arranged with the Government Documents/Media Department.

Faculty, staff and teaching assistants can reserve media resources for U of M courses on a semester basis. Media Reservation forms are available at the Media/Microforms Desk. Please allow 48 hours for the Media Reserve to take effect.  For rush requests, contact Laura Love at 915-5865, Monday-Friday 8-4pm.  Media Reserves are searchable through the Course Reserve link on the library catalog home page.  These items can be searched by instructor name or course number.

For a more thorough description of circulation policies, visit our Regulations and Policies page.

Microforms

The library houses more than 2.8 million microforms, including microfiche, microfilm and microprint/ microcards.  The department has equipment to view, print, and digitize all microformats.

The cost for printing is $ .10 per page.  Patrons can either use dimes or Ole Miss Express.  There is a change machine near the Media Desk that converts dollars to dimes. Special arrangements can be made for patrons doing extensive cash printing to use by-pass mechanisms.
